Stay safe on Lefkio

Lefkio is a community marketplace. We verify sellers and moderate listings, but no platform can prevent every bad actor. These tips will help you transact safely.

For buyers

Meet in a public place

For in-person exchanges, choose a busy public location — a coffee shop, a library, or the parking lot of a police station. Never go alone to a private address you don't know.

Inspect before you pay

Always examine the item before handing over any money. If a seller refuses to let you inspect it in person, walk away.

Never wire money or send bank transfers upfront

Legitimate sellers do not require bank transfer, Western Union, MoneyGram, or cryptocurrency before you have received the item. These payment methods offer no buyer protection.

Be cautious with too-good-to-be-true prices

If a listing is priced far below market value, it is likely a scam. Verify the item exists and that the seller is who they say they are.

Check the seller's profile

Verified sellers have passed an identity check. Look for a Verified badge, a profile photo, and a member-since date. Be extra cautious with brand-new accounts.

Use Lefkio Messages

Keep all communication on the platform. This protects you and gives us a record if something goes wrong. Be wary of sellers who immediately push you to WhatsApp or email.

For sellers

Only accept safe payment methods

Cash in person or bank transfer are standard. If a buyer sends a cheque, wait for it to clear before releasing the item — counterfeit cheques are a common scam.

Do not overpay and refund

A classic scam: the buyer sends you more than the asking price and asks you to refund the difference. The original payment then bounces. Never refund more than you received.

Protect your personal information

Do not share your home address, SIN, banking details, or copies of your ID with buyers. Use a public meeting location for handoffs.

Take photos before handoff

Document the condition of the item at the moment of sale. This protects you if a buyer later claims the item was damaged.
